June

June is usually very eventful for us; There's my brother's birthday, Father's day (that's a 3 dads, 1 husband celebration kinda day for us), then Adam's birthday as well. On top of a few friends birthday as well. But this year, although we did celebrate all these occasions, the highlight of June for us in that we became foster parents for the first (and maybe last) time. We got a phone call from our Foster agency on Tuesday June 17th to tell us that we might be getting a 4 years old little girl the next day. Now this might seem very sudden, but in the foster care world knowing 24 hours ahead is quite the warning. This was still just a maybe though so we didn't want to get too excited just yet. This was our 3rd placement call after all. And we still had no kiddos yet so...But sure enough, on the morning of the 18th, I get a confirmation call saying that Hailee Dae was on her way to our house. We were just anxious to meet her! Josan is the one that saw her first. While I was taking that whole 20 minutes they gave me to get ready for her Josan peeked through the porch window to tell me: "I can see her!...She's not brown though, she has yellow hair!" He was so excited and nervous too. We all were. Except for her. She was just nervous. Definitely not excited. Who can blame her? I cant imagine what she was going through at that time. But we were so blessed to have her as part of our family. She warmed up instantly and was fitting in right away. Just to show how fast she got used to us: the first night she took 2:30 hours to fall asleep. The second night it was 1:30. And the third night it took her 45 minutes. After that it just got a little bit easier each night. She's been such a good girl. And so much tougher than she should have been at her age.

Before Hailee...

Temple date!

Father's day

Family of 4...our dream...

(This is my friend Jessica's baby. Cutest little thing ever!)

Tired girl just after waking up...

These two's friendship wasnt phased by the change. They stayed as dorky as ever

I just love how much they look alike. Josan even poses like Adam...

My first trip to Costso with my kids. I was nervous to take 2...I usually just have one so this was double duty for me. But they were so so sooooooooo good. I wsa one lucky mama!

The closest we ever got to a family picture. Hailee was not a big fan of pictures. A lot of times it was hard to get a "picture smile" out of her. And then this was right after 3 hours of church. And the sun was in everyone's face. But I still love it. We're all there and that's all that matters.

We had a little celebration for Adam's birthday. Dinner and cake is always good;)

And this was for our friend Jack's party!

We finally had fun neighbors moving accross the streeet from us. It was the first time in 2 years that we had outgoing and fun neighbors that had kids!:)

So that's that for June. It was quite the month!

May

{I started this post in May. Obviously just got it done...Sorry about that}

WARNING: Picture overload!

May was awesome. From the 1rst to the 6th we went to California with the Olsons. We had an amazing time. It had been 1 year since Taylor died and they wanted to go to California in his memory. And we just tagged along; as usual. Bruce and Jeannette actually came with us as well. It was just as fun as it could get.

I got a haircut right before our trip. A girl in our ward was
about to graduate and still needed a few cuts to practice a little.

He such a little grown up traveler. And so, so handsome.

We didn't have to rent a car there since everyone else was driving. We just got to ride with whoever all the time. Bruce and Jeannette were picking us up at the airport. After a "little" detour they got there. Just took a little longer than expected;)

We were pretty bored while we were waiting. There wasn't much to do. But we did get to see a guy getting arrested. Hey we had to entertain ourselves with what we had!

Here's pictures of our trip. We went to Disneyland on Friday, 2 different beaches on Saturday and Sunday and then we went to California Adventures on Monday. The house we stayed in was amazing and was perfect.  It was so fun. We are definitely in to turn this into a yearly tradition. We'd love to go back each year!

These two were so funny. They went in for the waves and when the waves came they'd run off. Then they'd turn back around saying "WE'RE MEN! WE'RE MEN! WE'RE MEN!!!!" hahahaha

Before....

After the wave....

Back to the "WE'RE MEN!" thing...

My handsome handsome boy all churched up...

Lowe's does that Build and Grow clinic once a month. It's free so why not right?

Mothers Day love!!!!

And snow to top the month off!!!:)

 PreK graduation

Memorial weekend with the family!

So these 2 guys served their mission in Quebec...12 years ago!
So even though we dont hang out that often, they sure are my oldest friends around here!:)

We love the airshows!
Josan at "his" desk. He keep saying that when he's a dad he'll go work with dad. And so he had Adam put a little sign on the desk by his that said "Josan"...just to make sure they'd sit by each other...;)

At this point we are starting to feel a little discouraged with Foster Care. We have been licensed since the very beginning ogfMay and were expecting a placement very quickly. We had 2 calls so far: one about a 4 years old girl and her 6 years old brother. Both with possible behavioral issues. We were so heartbroken but had to say no. We had made it clear with our agency that we wanted Josan to stay the oldest kid and not only he would not be the oldest anymore but he would have gone from only child to middle child with behavioral siblings. So this was not the right choice for us at the time. The second call was for a 7 months old baby girl and her 2 years old brother. We said yes of course. They were still trying to place the 2 with their 4 years old brother all together but they told us it was very unprobable that they'd find a place for all 3 so we would end up with the 2 youngest. Us already having Josan we were not equipped for 3 more kids. so we couldn't take all 3 either. Anyways after getting everything ready for the 2 and being as excited as we could be we got a call to tell us they had found a home for the 3 of them together. We were so happy for them. But so disappointed from our selfish point of view. Was foster care going to be for us after all?
